Finally a social sharing WordPress plugin I like

January 25, 2012 by Tim Miner · Leave a Comment
MP Share Center sets a new bar for social sharing WordPress plugins with simplicity…and a really cool font!

I’ve most certainly tested dozens of social sharing WordPress plugins for our various sites as well as for our client projects.  You know what I’m talking about, those like, tweet, and +1 buttons that appear before or after posts that allow the reader to share a link to the content in their social circles with just a click or two of the mouse.

Trail Sherpa is a multisite environment which means it is a network with satellite sites (like Trail Sherpa Design) that run off of it.  This means that there are a few more complexities to choosing plugins in some cases.  This has been case for social sharing plugins.  Some work great on the CPTs, our custom post templates like the Trail Reports.  But then look terrible in the archives or on pages.

MP Share Center is a breath of fresh air.  It looks great on both the CPTs and pages not to mentions regular blog posts.  Take a look:

WordPress social sharing plugin

Clean, well spaced, positioned after the content

My favorite feature is the choice of fonts.  We are using the Permanent Marker font, but there are a few other cool ones to choose from. But make no mistake, this plugin doesn’t get the thumbs up because of the cool fonts.  It loads the JavaScript in the footer which aids in load times and as a result benefits SEO.

The plugin will add Facebook Like, Twitter Tweet, Google Plus, LinkedIn Share, and StumbleUpon Stumble buttons or boxes, above or below the front page/post/page/archive/search pages.  You can also customize the call to action text.

This plugin gets the basics right and does its job very well.  Give MP Share Center a test run and let us know what you think.
